Sayo just needed a break, sure she was getting better at being around a lot of people, but it was getting harder and harder not to beat the living daylights out of someone. She knew it was because she didn't have the best patience when it came to other people. It was way to easy to get underneath her skin, and the smallest thing could set her off. Sometimes she wished she could just rewind time to simpler times, when it was easier to deal with the things around her.

Instead she had become a totally different person than she had been as a child. She supposed some people would tell her that was completely normal. But was it completely normal for nothing of your old self to remain? If someone had told her that she would end like this before her world had turned upside down she would've laughed in their face. She would never have imagined in a million years that she would turn out like this.

And it was all because of what had happened eleven years ago. Maybe her father had been in the wrong to kill that guy. There had probably been more peaceful solutions of how to deal with the situation. Her people had definitely been in the wrong when they had started treating her like some criminal. It was like they only saw her father when they looked at her. It was good being away from the suspicious glares and the whispers that had followed her wherever she went when she had lived with the other dwarfs.

Shaking her head to clear her thoughts, she gazed off into the distance. The view from up here was really amazing. She could just as easily see a great view from the port if she wanted to, but that would've involved going into town. And that was something she wasn't in the mood for. Of course she would head into town later, but for now she would just enjoy the time she could get for herself.

QUOTE
Zao ran his hands along head in exasperation. He'd spent the better part of the day looking for shelter. Normally he would have returned home, but, he didn't know where home was. Which was why he was at the summit of this mountain. Perhaps if he got to high ground, he'd better know where he was. Though quite frankly, it didn't help a bit. The island was big, that was certain, and though he could see far off, clouds shielded his vision. He didn't know if his family was even on this island, considering his family was nomadic. They didn't stick around in one place for too long.

Though he was sure his father was looking for him, he also knew it wasn't out of affection. Put simply, his father lost his pawn, and he was going to do whatever it took to find it. Zao being that pawn.

He sighed and swiped at a vine with his claws. Once it snapped off, he used it to tied down some leaves unto branches that he bent. It was a shabby little shelter, but he didn't need much in the ways of shelter anyway. Not when he could transform and huddle in a hole if worse came to worse. Zao straightened himself out and proceeded to move to collect some other items.

After the fiasco that was 'Harmony Day,' he figured keeping his distance from humans was a pretty good idea, so he set up camp in the mountains. It wasn't hard, and he was used to this life. The hamburgers, though delicious, was something he could live without. A good ol' hunt would suffice. First though, a fire.

Zao swished his tail about behind him as he idly scanned the vicinity for dry brush, twigs and stone.

Sayo continued to gaze off into the distance as memories of the past continued to dance through her mind. She often found herself wondering if her father was actually dead or if he was still hiding away around the island somewhere. Perhaps he had managed to get off the island. She knew all it really took to leave the island was to use the hot air balloon, and the humans wouldn't have had a reason to stop her father. The wouldn't have known what her father had done; since, they hadn't lived among humans.

If he was around somewhere she wanted to track him down just to give him a piece of her mind. She wanted him to know how much she hated him for what his actions had done for her. However if he was dead than good riddance. But she knew it would be hard for her to ever move on. Her only regret about leaving the dwarfs was being unable to convince her mother to come with her. She knew why that was. Her mother hadn't had it as bad as her. And she knew why that was. She took after her father more than she did her mother.

Shaking her head to clear her thoughts, she began listening to the sounds around her. It was actually nice not being surrounded by a lot of noise. The wind picked up a bit, but she didn't really have a problem with it. It wasn't until it blew her bandanna off her head that she had a problem with it. Grumbling under her breath she went to go get it. It had gotten blown among the trees, so she would have to go among the few trees in the mountain. Not that she had a problem with trees, she would just rather the sky not be blocked from her view by tree branches.

Running her hand through her hair she looked for bandanna until she found it stuck to one of the lower branches of a tree. Letting out an agitated sigh she worked to get it, knowing she would have to get her hair styled the way she wanted before putting it back on. Running her hand through her hair had actually caused her hair that no longer be covering her ears, so she would have to fix that as well.

A noise suddenly caught her attention and she spun around, forgetting about her ears being visible. "If someone is out there you had better come out. I don't have the patience to deal with people who like skulking in the shadows," the dwarf said, crossing her arms over her chest. In reality she was agitated that her peace and quiet might be over.

"And it better no be one of the dwarfs coming to convince me to come back," she muttered under her breath. If it was it would probably just lead to a fight. She wasn't planning on going back just to make her people feel better. She would just be treated like some criminal if she did. So this place was better; even though, the humans did have a tendency to get on her nerves.

QUOTE
Zao lifted a slender finger over his face, brushing a silky tendril away from his purple eye. Better for him, since he caught sight of an upcropping of dried out yellow grass. He made quick work, allowing is claws to effortlessly cut up the grass from the ground, and stuffed the mounds within his pockets. He'd need to make a little satchel while he was out here, but that consisted of hunting. An activity he'd do later, when he transformed. Hunting in his two-legged form was a bit more difficult. He knew the activity usually worked with spears or other weapons. For him? Good ol' fashioned teeth and claws worked wonders.

Zao's mind wandered as he worked on. He didn't know what he was going to do. Kayla... She'd been a nice distraction at that event in town. However he couldn't ignore the fact anymore. He was in a totally different place then when he went to sleep. He didn't know how he knew, and he didn't have any proof, but things were different. This world was different, and he was like a foreigner.

He sighed and padded over toward a low lying tree, branches and the like were scattered about beneath it. He moved and plucked a twig or four off the ground, when a voice called out angrily. Zao paused, freezing in place as the voice called out further. Was he so into his own head, that he hadn't noticed another being? Why hadn't he scented her? Or better yet, when did he get so lousy at keeping quiet? That was something he'd have to think on later.

Zao straightened himself to his full height, a bundle of sticks huddled in the crook of his arm. He moved forward, emerging from the dark of the forest, to a small clearing a little like his own camp, and raised a brow. He didn't have time to wrap up his ears, nor his tail, considering he didn't expect to run into anyone this far up the mountain. So he stood there in all his glory, tail, claws and ears galore.

He felt his ears twitch about, listening to the sound so the forest, along with the resonance of this woman's voice, bouncing against the walls of the mountain. After a few moments of silence, for what felt like minutes, he finally spoke. His voice was kept low, a little annoyed, but ultimately calm. "Quite the ego you have to think you interest me enough to skulk after you." He motioned to his elbow full of sticks and smiled slyly. "I have better things to do."

He then turned toward another twig that happened on the ground. Zao lowered his body to once more to gather his resource. "You're not the only one on this island. Expect to have some-" he paused and chuckled. "-skulkers."

When the person revealed himself she was relieved. So it wasn't one of the other dwarfs coming to force her back into a life she didn't know. However his response about her having an ego infuriated her. Just who did he think he was accusing her of such. She scowled at him not hiding her displeasure from his comment. "Ego has nothing to do with it. I'm just cautious of the motives of those around me," she said with a small shrug.

She took in the males appearance noticing he didn't seem like one of those annoying humans who seemed to want to feel the silence with meaningless talking. He wasn't and elf or a dwarf either, she wasn't exactly sure what he was. Due to the conversation that had been started with the male before her she had forgotten about her bandanna. It was still in her hand from when she had picked it up after it had blown off of her head.

"I never said I was the only one on the island but that doesn't give people the right to sneak around another person. You could've had ill intentions or something. Not that I wouldn't have been able to defend myself if you did," she said, keeping her attention fixed on the other male. She had noticed all of the wood he was caring and wondered if he was planning on camping. Not that it was any of her business. She usually just fell asleep wherever a lot of the times. It depended on where she was when she was tired.

Instead of asking him if he was planning on camping she camp up with something else to ask him. "Do you come here often?" she asked, wondering if he also went to the forest or mountain to avoid the people in Aeon. She didn't come here as often as she would like and that was thinks to her job. Though she didn't have a problem with her job, it was just the people she had a problem with. Though it was still better than having to deal with the other dwarfs.
